Teddy is a whole lot of awesome.  He needs to be on the cover of a doggy calendar now.  Such a gorgeous little Yorkie, all it takes is one look and you’ll understand he needs to be yours forever.  This little guy will do well in both new and experienced dog owners and as an owner surrender was reported to have played gently with both children and adults.  Teddy was also reported to be a super calm and affectionate dog.  He really is a perfect little Yorkie and you’ve gotta meet him today at MACC.

PROFILE – 05/15/15 13:46

Teddy (A1036429) is an approximately 12 year old yorkshire terrier mix. The owner recieved him as a gift. He is being surrendered because the owner just had a baby and she is not physically able to care for him any more. She said that Teddy has been having alot of ear infections and she cannot take him to the vet because of the costs as well. He has no other no known health issues.Around strangers, Teddy is shy at first but friendly and outgoing. The dog has been around children the ages of 3 months and 7 years old. He plays gently and exuberantly withh both children and adults. he loves female dogs but is territotial around males. Around female dogs he gets very excited and wants to play. Around male dogs he barks at them.

He has not bitten anyone or any other animal.

For the past year, the owner has been very busy that she has not been able to walk him as often. She used to walk him everyday but now it isnt as much. Now he goes potty in the home.

The owner describes him as friendly, affectionate, confident, excitable, and playful. Her favorite things about him are that he is very calm and affectionate with her. He follows her around the home and demands a lot of attention. He loves to play with his squeaky toys. He has been mostly kept indoors and he loves to sleep on the floor on his blanket. He is well behaved when left alone. He knows many commands in both english and spanish. He pulls hard on the leash andloves to go on brisk walks and jogging.

During intake, he was shy but friendly. He allowed to get scanned and switch leashes. He allowed to be photgraphed and to be put into a kennel. He had an open mouth and wagging tail.

BEHAVIOR 5/17/15:

Teddy came to us as an owner surrender on 5/15/15. It is reported he has lived with young children and plays gently with both children and adults. Owner also reports he knows many commands in both English and Spanish, though did not state which ones. During intake, Teddy was shy but friendly and allowed admissions counselor to leash and photograph with open mouth and wagging tail. Teddy held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, but with cautious body. He accepted touch for Sensitivity item, tail down and body neutral. Teddy had no response to both Squeeze attempts. He lifted his head and ceased eating when approached by assess-a-hand during Food item. Teddy had no interest in toys or rawhide during assessment, but owner reports he loves squeaky toys. During social time with other dogs in the yard Teddy interacted with other dogs briefly and then wandered away. The Behavior Team feels Teddy would do well in an Average home.
