09/05/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
Basic Info: Taz A1050427 is a 12yr old neutered male Pomeranian who was purchased at a pet store in a mall at 4/5months of age and is being surrendered due to the owner not having time for him and Taz’s barking. Taz was last seen at a veterinarian 5yrs ago when he was neutered and is currently experiencing diarreha for the past month that comes & goes, and he hasn’t been to a vet concerning this issue. Socialization: Taz is fearful/nervous around strangers for a few minutes. He doesn’t like small/young children. Taz lived with 5yr old twins he stays away from. Taz doesn’t play like he used to. However he’s happy when you come home or are going to take him out. Taz lived with 3 dogs, 2 young poms & 1 small-medium sized mixed breed and he’s relaxed around them. He doesn’t bother them and they don’t bother him. According to the owner Taz doesn’t like dogs he sees on the street. He’ll bark, lunge & growl at them. The same goes for the cat in the home. Taz has never bitten/scratched any person/animal. Behavior: Taz will “mark his territory” around the home, he also is constantly barking according to the owner. During storms/fireworks Taz will bark & or howl. Taz isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys, treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being held/restrained, being given a bath (but will attempt to jump out the tub), being brushed, being picked up/held (but by adults, doesn’t like to be around young kids/children). Taz hasn’t had his nails trimmed in years. If someone knocks on the door he’ll bark. For a New Family to Know: Taz is described as friendly, mellow, excitable (at times) & independent with a medium activity level. He enjoys playing with and hiding his mouse toy. Taz is an indoor only dog who isn’t taken outside anymore but when taken out he barks and pulls strongly towards other dogs. He used to be let off leash at a dog park and he would run off but come back.Taz sleeps with the owner. Taz eats dry Blue Buffalo food and likes chicken, vienna sausages & hot dogs. When he’s sick the owner makes him white rice. He’s house broken and uses wee wee pads/newspapers. Outside he “goes” on grass, gravel/dirt. When left home alone Taz will bark. His known commands are “sit”, “go”, when you whistle at him it means “come” and he’ll get food. Intake Behavior: Taz was nervous initially, but after a few minutes he allowed handling. He allowed to be scanned (+), collared & taken pictures of.

09/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Taz is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. Taz had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Taz does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. Taz was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Taz is fearful and nervous around strangers for a few minutes. He doesn’t like small and young children. Taz lived with 5yr old twins he stays away from. Taz doesn’t play like he used to. However he’s happy when you come home or are going to take him out. Taz lived with 3 dogs, 2 young Pomeranians & 1 small-medium sized mixed breed and he’s relaxed around them. According to the owner Taz doesn’t like dogs he sees on the street. He’ll bark, lunge & growl at them. The same goes for the cat in the home. Because of his owner surrender profile the behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter no children. Taz is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Taz is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits. Helper:A1050029
