08/15/15 11:29 Basic information Tatu is a male white and gray American Pit-bull terrier with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Tatu for 2 years and is surrendering because they are moving to a private residence. Socialization Tatu has lived with a child the age of 6 and is relaxed and gentle with them. Tatu has not lived with any other animal and has not been socialized with any animals. Whit strangers Tatu is playful. Behavior During storms and fireworks Tatu is relaxed. Tatu allows treats and toys to be taken from him but behavior is not known for taking his food bowl away. Tatu enjoys getting bathes but has not had his nails trimmed by the owner. When held back or restrained on the leash Tatu will take a step back and sit. When someone unfamiliar approaches the home or the owner Tatu will back but upon meeting the person Tatu will sniff them and greet. For the new family to know Tatu was described as playful and affectionate with a very high activity level. One of Tatu’s favorite things to do is ball with any type of ball he can get. Tatu loves to play fetch. Tatu is house trained and goes for 4 walks a day. For The last walk of the night tatu enjoys a 45 min slow walk. Tatu is well behaved when left in the house alone. When your home with Tatu he will tend to follow you around seeking attention. Tatu knows the commands sit, down, and stay. Tatu eats pedigree dry food twice a day and usually goes to the bathroom on grass areas. When walking Tatu pulls hard on the leash. When its time for bed Tatu loves to cuddle up with you on the bed. Behavior during intake Tatu was slightly tense during intake and was slightly vocal. When counselor approached Tatu he came foward, smelled counselor and tried to lick their hand. When trying to Scan Tatu he became tense, backed away from scanner and started to bark. Tatu did not allow counselor to scan or collar him.

The owner states Tatu has lived with a child the age of 6 and was relaxed and gentle when interacting with the child. Around strangers it was reported that Tatu is playful. It was noted that Tatu allows treats and toys to be taken from him but his behavior is unknown when taking his food bowl away. It was also noted that Tatu enjoys getting bathes but has not had his nails trimmed by the owner. Tatu was best described by his previous family as playful and affectionate with a very high activity level. His family also states he is house trained and well behaved when left in the house alone, but he pulls hard on the leash when on walks. It was reported that Tatu was slightly tense during intake and a bit vocal. He was receptive to introductions from the counselor, but became fearful of the scanner and backed away not allowing the counselor to collar him. During SAFER Tatu was social, and maintained a loose body posture for all handling items as well as the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Tatu was not interested in any of the items. Tatu appears to be social, but can be shy when introduced to new situations, so it is recommended that Tatu be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace. The department feels Tatu can be suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Tatu may greet briefly, becomes sexually motivated but takes correction well.

When off leash with other dogs, Tatu may greet briefly, becomes sexually motivated but takes correction well. 8/20 update: Tatu is sexually motivated and continues to attempt to mount once corrected. 8/27 update: Tatu greets the other dog briefly before becoming sexually motivated. He takes correction well.

Scanned negative BARH – sensitive to handling of face/ear, tail tucked M~ 2 1/2 years Ears, eyes, nose mouth clear Redness around base of neck, around toes and behind ears. Dog scratching at base of left ear. Owner reported ear bothers animal during summer months. No parasites observed. NOSF
