03/18/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I love the seniors……they’re fun, sweet, and I always admire their spunk and wisdom. Taji was surrendered into our care by her family of 2 adults and 4 kids as they are moving where she’s not welcome. We’re told she gets along with kids, and knows ‘sit’ and ‘stay’. Taji has been a mom many times over, but that doesn’t stop her from being playful and bouncy with a lovely energy for an 8 year old. Her cute little wrinkly face shows the wisdom that comes with having seen and been through a lot, but her tail wag tells us she’s ready to move on. She pulls on the leash a bit as we walk, but her tail wags with the joy of being out on a warm winter afternoon. Off leash in a pen she does a little dance, showing off a great little prance as she scampers around the pen. With a lilt in her step she comes when I call her, and wags her tail at other dogs passing our pen. Taji is looking for a new family to love and cozy up with. She’s sweet and gentle, and hopes you’ll ask to meet her today.

03/18/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Taji walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Taji was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Taji was not interested in toys but took the rawhide away with a soft body language. Taji was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Taji was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she gets along with children and other dogs. Taji did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but the owner says that Taji can be “unpredictable” around strangers.” The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. 04/06/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE

When off leash with other dogs, Taji is more comfortable with respectful and calm dogs. When interactign with over zealous or rude dogs, he will overcorrect and is intolerant of dogs jumping on his back. With calmer dogs, he will solicit play. He may be vocal when playing.
