11/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/21/15 12:23 BASIC INFO Sweets’ family got her from her previous owner when she was 4 months old about 15 years ago. They surrendered her because she tries to bite strangers who come over, due to lack of time, and because of personal problems. SOCIALIZATION Sweets grew up with a child beginning when the child was 10 years old and was relaxed, affectionate, playful, and tolerant with her. She is shy with new people. She allows strangers to pet her outside but often charges and bites strangers (adults and children) who come into her home (on the hands, arms, and face). She has only broken skin twice, most recently 5 months ago. This behavior developed and worsened in Sweets’ old age. Sweets lived with another small female dog. She minds her business and is relaxed around her if she doesn’t solicit attention from her. When the other dog solicits attention from her, she often starts fights with her (biting, wrestling, etc.). These incidents have never resulted in broken skin. BEHAVIOR Sweets doesn’t mind storms. She doesn’t mind when someone holds/restrains her or wakes her up. She’s nervous while brushed. She snaps when moved off furniture. She bites when someone bathes her or trims her nails and thus has to be muzzled. Sweets charges and bites strangers who come into her home but doesn’t mind when new people approach her family. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sweets’ family describes her as friendly, affectionate, shy, and medium energy. She follows her family around and likes to play with balls and chew toys. She lived inside and slept with the child in her home or on a dog bed. She ate dry Beneful food and enjoyed chicken, grits, and vegetables. She’s housetrained and doesn’t have accidents. She potties anywhere outside on walks. When it’s cold and snowy outside, she potties inside on wee-wee pads. She’s well-behaved while home alone. She knows sit. She went for slow walks and doesn’t pull on her leash. INTAKE Sweets was a little tense but approached us, sat next to us, and leaned against us. She relaxed and had a soft body while we pet her, scanned her (-), collared her, picked her up, and put her in a kennel. She barked and lunged when we passed her in her kennel.
