10/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1051223 Swan came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Swan was calm and relaxed, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Swan came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Tag interaction was not conducted due to medical condition, and during paw squeeze test, flank was applied both times due to medical condition on her right front paw. During the resources portion of the assessment Swan was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Swan appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Flank squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Flank squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
