I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 04/14/2015 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB.

04/14/15 16:56 Dog Name: Precious Reason for surrender: Owner stated Precious is aggressive towards adults, children and other dogs. Relationship: Owner known of Precious for 15 years but had her since last October from a family member. People: Precious lived with 3 adults and children ages 3 years old. Owner stated Precious is aggressive towards everyone in the household. If children tries to pet Precious she will snap and doesn’t let anyone pick her up owner stated. Other Animals: Precious lived with three pitbulls which two of them are puppies. Precious will bark, growl and snap at the dogs when they approach her. Owner stated Precious lived with a cat and is tolerant around them but will eat they food. Personality/Habits: Owner stated Precious is confident. Her activity level is to a medium, she doesn’t play with toys and most of the time she is calm in her cage but when outside the cage she has a lot of energy. Owner stated Precious doesn’t allow people to touch her food bowl because she will growl or snap. Precious hasn’t taking a bath or been brushed in months because she doesn’t allow anyone in the house to handle her. Precious is friendly or isn’t bothered if unfamiliar people approaches the house or family member but when dogs approach her she growl, snaps and barks at them. Owner stated she believes Precious is afraid of fire because she was in a house fire on point of her life. Precious mostly stay in a cage that’s in one room and will whine if left in cage for too long. Owner stated Precious likes to eat paper and plastic bags. Training: Precious uses the bathroom indoors and outdoors. If Precious is walked outside it’s on a leash and never in a yard. Precious is never outside without a leash on and walked twice a day. Precious doesn’t know any commands and is trained to be in a crate. Precious is in a crate majority of the time in the house due to the other dogs living there. Feeding: Precious eats Blue Basic dry twice a day. Behavior upon intake: Precious was quiet, calm and relaxed. She scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Helper: 1032891 Precious came to us by way of owner surrender on 4/14/15. It was reported by the previous owner that Precious is reactive towards adults, children, and other dogs. It was also mentioned that Precious will bite if someone tries to touch her food. She did not allow the assessor to conduct any tactile assessment items, and tried to bite the assessor when attempting the Look test. Precious also tried to bite the assess-a-hand on the toy and rawhide tests, but showed no interest in the food. The behavior department believes that Precious would be best placed with a rescue that can manage these behaviors. Look: 5. Dog tries to bite. Food: No interest. Toy: 5. Dog attempts to bite Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite Dog – dog 4. Dog approaches helper dog with tense body language, growls when close.
