04/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Cooper looks like so many dogs we have in Belgium, undenominated Shepies, faithful companions of older couples, pillars of the house, drinking coffee in the morning, sharing their meals and chomping on a cookie or a piece of sugar here and there. I remember these pooches quite well, family dogs, very intelligent and perceptive, when I was making house calls as a young doctor in my country. They usually sat between mom and dad, listening very attentively to the conversation, bright eyed, mouth open and so concerned-looking. The well being of their masters was at stake and so was theirs…. They could have been a poster picture for a Norman Rockwell painting. Cooper, a small and well groomed little mensch, was abandoned in a dog run and watched by good samaritans while the police was called. He was very friendly with them. Here at the care center, Cooper is a little anxious. He is middle aged and had a home just yesterday. A kennel is not to his liking and he yearns to come out and be in company. Cooper is lively and walks well on the leash. He seems very much housetrained and does not mark his territory. He appears to like other dogs and particularly females as he is an un-neutered male. He loves treats and will sit for them. He is a wonderful lap dog. His whole body and facial expression relax under caresses and a big smile appears on his face. Cooper aced his behavioral evaluation at the care center. He is so ready and eager to meet his new owner or family. A faithful, devoted and spirited companion he will be if he is given the chance to join you as your forever best friend. Cooper is at the Manhattan Care Center.
