Missy is a sweet Lhasa Apso mix who was brought into BACC as a stray. Missy has a large bladder stone that will require surgery to remove. She also has some dermatitis, which has been improving with an anti-fungal medication and medicated baths. Missy has been very social while in the shelter, always looking for some attention in her kennel, and did very well on her SAFER. She seems pretty laid-back, and has the cutest under-bite! Please help Missy get the medical care she needs!

Behavior: Average Home
SAFER:
Missy came in as a stray surrender so her past behavior in a home is unknown. Upon intake it was noted that Missy was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. She was also reported to walk well on leash and was responsive to guidance. During SAFER Missy was very relaxed when interacting with the assessor, and allowed all handling without issue. She was also relaxed during the tag interaction. Missy was not interested in the food or toy items, and only showed minimal interest in the rawhides.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw.
Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating.
Toy: 1. No interest.
Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Missy does not interact with other dogs but is tolerant of the presence and will wander the yard.
Group Behavior: 4/06
When off leash with other dogs, Missy does not interact with other dogs but is tolerant of the presence and will wander the yard.
