07/07/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/07/15 11:13 Sun Sun A1043009 is a young male AMPBT/Wire haired Mix whom was found tied up on a street in the Bronx. Someone called the police and they brought him into our BXAC. They stated Sun Sun is a super friendly, smart, happy good boy. They approached him and Sun Sun had a loose wiggly body and jumped up on them to give/get affection/attention. He jumped right into their vehicle and sat staring out the window as they drove. During intake Sun Sun exhibited the same behaviors. He was very social, seeking attention/affection from staff and other patrons in our lobby. His tail never stopped wagging & he sat when asked. Sun Sun took treats eagerly but gently. He allowed all handling. Sun Sun allowed us to scan (-), collar him and take his pictures along with positioning him for pictures.

07/11/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Meet Sun Sun, the dog so nice they named him twice! He has to be one of the most unusually handsome boys I’ve ever met and with his short-all-over-but-long-at-the-neck coat this young hunk is single-pawedly bringing the mullet back into style! An independent dude who loves to explore, he’s very easy to handle and amiable both on or off leash, content just to be spending ‘free time’ with other pups or alone with his human. Whether enjoying some head scratches, playing tug-o-war with a toy, enthusiastically greeting fellow dogs through the fence or simply taking a brisk stroll down the street, this tail-wagging teen is always smiling and always up for more. Sun Sun seems to be quite house trained as he does his business moments after we step outside and though he’ll pull a little when an exciting scent beckons, his leash walking skills need only minor buffing to bring them up to a perfect shine. A head-turner with the modest nature of a wallflower, Sun Sun is taking visitors and winning admirers at our Manhattan Care Center right now — come check him out and I guarantee you’ll both be glad you did!

07/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sun Sun was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. He was calm and relaxed during handling. He engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open and began to mouth the leash lightly but settled quickly. Sun Sun was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had neutral body language. He was easy to handle when chewing on toys and rawhides. Sun Sun was brought to the care center as a stray, the officers that brought him in reported he had a loose wiggly body and jumped up on them to give/get affection/attention. Throughout the assessment, he remained friendly towards the assessor and displayed no behavioral concerns. The Behavior Department feels Sun Sun can go to an average home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture, leaning into the assessor. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins and mouths the leash lightly. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed or back. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body neutral. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the rawhide. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Sun Sun may mount but responds well to correction. He shows some status seeking behaviors over a social male.

07/08/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs Sun Sun may mount but responds well to correction. He shows some status seeking behaviors over a social male. 7/10 update: Sun Sun greets a female dog politely, is sexually motivated and will correct when the other dog solicits play. 7/11 update: Sun Sun greets politely but may become a bit stiff when another male is interested in play. 7/12 update: Sun Sun is sexually motivated but responds well to correction.
