08/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Suave came into the care center, with no information on his past behaviors in a home, and he was reported to be difficult to handle upon arrival to the care center. Suave can also be difficult to remove from his kennel, and snaps at the leash, but once out of the kennel he is more social, and tolerant of handling. During SAFER Suave approached the assessor with a slightly tense body posture, but he remained close and allowed the assessor to conduct all handling items without issue, and followed at the end of the leash with a low body position during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Suave only showed minimal interest in the items. Suave can be shy when introduced to new situations, so it is recommended that introductions are done slowly, and Suave be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace. The department feels Suave would do best with an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, and mouth closed, lip long, ears back, and trembles. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog sniffs, then turns away. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog sniffs, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Suave greets politely but is more interested in exploring his surroundings.
08/04/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION

He is social toward some dogs but will approach some other dogs and growl. 8/8 update: Suave allows brief greeting but begins to exhibit offensive behaviors.
