A volunteer writes: There’s a Starman waiting at the Manhattan Care Center and he really will blow your mind with the incredible power of his cuteness! This beautiful boy has all the puppy stuff you love; a soft round face and tiny, huggable body, hilarious ‘zoomie’ energy and an endless supply of smooches, yet he’s actually a full-grown 3 year old with all the intelligence and good manners to prove it. Pulling a little in his excitement, he chugs out the door and takes care of business quickly then greets a neighboring dog with happy butt wiggles before heading into a pen and (literally) unleashing the tail-wagging, chin-kissing, ball-and-person-chasing lovefest that is the full Starman experience. He’s excited over the chance to run after a ball but has no interest in retrieving it and immediately bounces his way back to my side instead. I rest on the bench and he comes over to enjoy some petting and butt rubs and then sits on command to wait for treats, which he LOVES. Just in case the sight of his sweet smile is not enough of a motivator for me, Starman lays his chin on my knee and looks up with those perfectly pleading puppy eyes and I am a goner — who could say no to that face? His poor back may be looking a bit worse for wear but a vet visit, some TLC and a few weeks of good nutrition and I’ve no doubt it will soon be just as cute and kissable as the rest of him. Why settle for an ordinary life when you could welcome someone extraordinary home today? Perfection has a new name and it is Starman!
