09/30/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A dog like Stanford only comes along once in a blood red supermoon! When I first entered his room he was so quietly hanging out on his bed that I didn’t even notice him….and when I did, I was beside myself – his is the mushiest face ever! He made soft eye contact, sat at the front, quickly wagged his tail, and off we went. He pulls a little on the leash, but not bad, and seems housebroken. I don’t have all of his cues down, but he knows sit, down, paw, roll over, and he couldn’t possibly be more charming in his delivery of them. His sit is often a side sit, when you let go of his paw he often offers the other straight away, he’ll do an endearing down/paw combo almost like an army crawl, and roll over inevitably turns into a belly rub that he doesn’t want to end; when I encourage him to get up he’ll stretch out, bat his paws at me, wag his tail, and roll his head onto my shoe. He loves squeaky toys and is waggy when I go to take it from him, but sometimes wants to play tug. He is very cuddly and gentle in his displays of affection; he’ll crawl into my lap, lean against me when I pet him, and always maintains an expression that could melt the coldest of hearts into a puddle! He isn’t as quiet in his cage now, talking to me when he sees me, and I can only feel honored that such an amazing, sweet (!!!!) dog has me on his radar. He’s looking for someone to dress up on Halloween with – please come meet him at Manhattan ACC!
