10/11/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/11/15 20:17hrs Sparky is an 11 year old male Chihuahua mix that was cared for by his owner since he was a puppy. He is being surrendered because his owner could not afford to care for his medical issues. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Sparky is described as independent and friendly. He lived in a home with adults and children aged 1 years old and up. He allows minimal petting but will growl if his face is touched. He would stay to himself most of the time. He lived with a cat that he played with. He would chase the cat around the home. He would bark at dogs he noticed on the street. BEHAVIOR Sparky will growl if his food bowl is touched. He attempts to run away when it’s time to get bathed. When there are visitors he will bark at them until he is able to sniff them. He is house trained to use wee wee pads but lately he was having accidents at least a few times a week. He is walked at least 1x a day. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sparky know the command “sit” but in Spanish. He enjoys playing with squeaky toys and stuffed toys. He will tremble at the sound of balloons popping. He is accustomed to eating Pedigree dry dog food. He sleeps on a cushion at night. DURING INTAKE Sparky was growling and attempting to bite when a hand was extended towards him. He was able to be collared after many attempts of snapping at the Admissions Counselor hands. He was photographed and scanned negative for a microchip. BEHAVIOR Timber would groom himself but enjoyed being brushed. He was normally found lying around the house. He used to live in a house a year ago with his owners and was allowed outside on the property. Timber enjoyed chasing pigeons and at one time caught a mouse. He is litter box trained and used to using an uncovered litter box.

10/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Due to the possibility of discomfort as a result of the handling, his overall medical condition, and our desire to decrease stress in the care center, the behavior department believes that Sparky is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time. When attempting to take Sparky out of his kennel Sparky can visibly be observed to be unable to walk. In addition, Sparky can be seen trying to bite when attempting to place a slip lead on him. For these reasons the SAFER was not attempted in an effort to decrease stress levels for Sparky and for safety reasons.
