A volunteer writes: I am head over heels in love with Soups. A low rider meatball, he is gentle, adorable, sweet and affectionate. I could have spent the entire day snuggling with him, and envy the person who adopts him and gets to do just that. He is sooooo housetrained he peed a flood when we first got outside and I was worried he would topple over holding his leg up for so long. His former owner says he will sit by the door to let his person know he needs to go out and rarely/never has accidents. We’re told that Soups is great with kids, relaxed, playful and gentle. He’s playful with other dogs, and in group solicits play by bowing and is tolerant. Rockstar!! Soups tail is always straight up like an antenna, unless its wagging hard when we snuggle. He pulls on the leash a bit so may do better in a harness but is so awesome all is forgiven. Joining me on the bench for hugs and kisses, his little tongue sticks out giving him the cutest expression ever. So quiet in his kennel, and so sweet and gentle, I fell hard for this little meatball. He’s awesome and waiting to prove it to you. Ask for Soups when you visit.
PROFILE :
Basic Information:
Soups is a 4 year old neutered male American Bulldog who had to be surrendered because his previous owner is moving into a new home that does not allow pets. His previous owner got him from a breeder when he was a puppy. The only known health problem Soups has is, he gets heat rash in the summer. the last time he went to the vet was last year. The two things his previous owner liked most about him were; he’s great with kids and very obedient.
Social Life and Personality:
Around children ages 4, 7, and 13 years, Soups is relaxed and playful and when he plays he is exuberent but gentle. He is also relaxed and playful around dogs and when he plays he is exuberent. He would have play dates with a Pit Bull. Soups has never been around cats. He is house-trained and rarely/never has accidents. When he has to use the bathroom he would let his previous owner know by sitting by the door. He was kept indoors only and has a high activity level. Soups can be described as playful, excitable, affectionate, shy and friendly.
Behavior:
Soups often pulls on the leash when walked but has no other behavior issues. he has never bitten a person or animal. If someone touches his food bowl while eating, Soup would contiune eating at the same pace but if he thought the person would be adding more food he would sit and wait. He is friendly if someone took his toy or treat away while eating or playing.
