A volunteer writes: This handsome mushy face boy steps carefully out of his kennel and off we go. He shows off his housetraining skills and his nice leash walking skills and, of course, his Bulldog waddle. Too cute!! Surrendered by his owner as they are moving where Sonny is not welcome we’re told that he’s friendly and outgoing with strangers,
loves children and when the kids friends come over he loves playing with them. He initiates play at the dog run, is well behaved when left home alone, loves car rides, long naps, and baths running into the bathroom and waiting to be put into the tub. Sonny was fun to spend time with and while he didn’t solicit petting he didn’t turn me down either! His eyes are cloudy with glaucoma, and he occasionally has an allergy outbreak, but he’s been well taken care of and it shows. He’s been described as cuddly, friendly, playful and a big baby and his favorite activity is to sleep all day. If a couch potato dog will complete your family it sounds like Sonny is your man…er, dog. The perfect family dog, he’ll be happy with some playtime, easy walks, a soft bed, and long days settling in with you to binge on Netflix. Sounds pretty good to me!
PROFILE:
Sonny A1060102 is an approx 4 year old English Bulldog. He is being surrendered because his owner is moving and the new home does not allow pets. He was bought from a pet store. His last vet visit was in June, 2015 and he has Glaucoma and allergies.
Socialization
Sonny is friendly and outgoing around strangers. He plays exuberantly with adults. He loves children. The owner has 3 children(6,11, and a 15 years old). The owners son is on a football team and when his friends come over, they play with Sonny. Sonny loves to play with the football and chase the kids around the house. He plays exuberantly with her 6 year old daughter. At the dog run, he would initiate play with other dogs. He has not been around cats. He has not bitten anyone or any other animal.
Behavior
Sonny is well behaved at home. He enjoys car rides and sleeping in all day. He is not bothered by thunderstorms or fireworks. He is not bothered when having his toys, treats, or food bowl touched or taken away from him. He is sometimes hand fed by the 6 year old daughter. He loves baths. He will run into the bathroom and wait to be put into the tub. He loves to be brushed and goes to the groomer for nail trimming. He does not get on the furniture and is not bothered when strangers approach. He will bark when he hears knocking or the doorbell.
For a new family to know
Sonny is described as cuddly, friendly, playful, and a big baby. His favorite activity is to sleep all day. He has lots of toys, (tires, ropes, footballs, and tennis balls). He has his own bed inside of his crate. He was fed Taste of the wild dry food. He was walked twice a day but the owner says that he sometimes comes home with rashes from being outside. He pulls very hard on the leash and he enjoys running and jogging.
Behavior during intake
Sonny was very friendly upon intake. He allowed to be approached with the scanner and pet on his head. He was leashed and collared. He stood up on the counter and had an open mouth. He urinated on multiple places in the lobby and stood still for his photos. The owner transferred him into his kennel.
