A volunteer writes: With her little Shar Pei ears and slightly pudgy(Pug) body, Sofie combines the absolute best of her lineage. She’s so cute I had to make up a word to describe her – adorablicious!! Tail wagging, play bowing and bouncy she loves coming out to play. Let’s have some fun and chase some birds she says. Her sweet energy is a delight as she bounces around the pen, tossing around a toy, play bowing to me and coming in my lap for some petting. In the park she poses for pictures, shows off her sit and takes reward treats gently. Surrendered as her owner was deployed, we’re told that Sofie is housetrained to go outside (she’ll let you know when she needs to) and is also wee wee pad trained. She’s well behaved when left home alone, likes playing tug, and is described as “playful, quiet and affectionate”. In group with other dogs Sofie bows to play with another female, and walks away from a pushy male. Sofie is a tiny little girl with a fun, lively personality. She’s looking for a new person with whom to share her life; meet our little fun girl today.
PROFILE :
Sofie is a 1 year old spayed Ori-Pei (Shar-pei mixed with a pug) that was cared for by her owner for the past 6 months. She lived in a single adult household as the only pet. She was described as playful, quiet and affectionate. She has interacted with a 3 year old and would play with the child but was described as mouthy. She was always playful with everyone in the home. Sofie would generally ignore other dogs that she notices outside.
BEHAVIOR
Sofie is accustomed to roaming free at home. Her owner stated that she behaves well when she is left alone. Sofie does not react when her food is touched or if she is approached while eating. Sofie becomes alert when strangers approach her owner while being walked or enters the home. Her owner stated that she just observes the person and never reacts. She is accustomed being bathed at home. Her owner has never tried to clip her nails.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Sofie is house trained to use wee wee pads and go outside. When she has to relieve herself she will scratch at the door. She is enjoys running around free in the backyard every day. Sofie knows the command “sit.” She likes to play with hard rubber wheels and chewing on socks. She enjoys playing tug. Sofie is accustomed to eating Blue Buffalo dry dog food. She sleeps on her bed at night.
During intake Sofie allowed petting. She would wag her tail and approach the Admissions Counselor. She responded to the command “sit” when offered treats. She was collared, scanned for a microchip(positive) and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.
