Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1051766 Socrates previously lived with 1 adult and another dog and gets along great them. The owner mentioned when outside Socrates is fearful of bigger dogs and will start to bark at them and around strangers Socrates is relaxed and playful. The owner describes Socrates as playful, friendly and independent. It was reported by the owner Socrates is trained to use wee-wee pads inside, has a high activity level and is well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Socrates was loose and wiggly with high energy. He allowed all handling. During SAFER Socrates came into assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Socrates was distracted but not fearful during the tag interaction and during the resources portion of the assessment Socrates was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Socrates appears to be sociable but he can be shy and fearful at times, in addition we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Socrates be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “experience” adopter. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is tense and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2.
