05/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Socks came into the care center as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake Socks was reported to be calm and relaxed at first, but once his finder left he became very jumpy and active. During SAFER Socks was very distracted by his surroundings, and was in constant movement. He did not solicit attention and struggled to get away from the assessor during some of the handling items. He was distracted during the tag interaction, and Socks did show some concerns during the food item; stiffening and growled when pushed out of the food bowl. He only showed minimal interest in the toys, and was not interested in the rawhides. Due to the potential guarding behaviors seen during the food item at the time of the assessment, the department feels Socks would be best suited for a home without children and an experienced adopter is recommended. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 3. Dog is not fearful and is struggling to get away. The dog is not focused and is in constant movement, unconnected to the Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog licks, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Socks is sexually motivated and explores the yard
