When he is inside he is well behaved for the most part but he will bark and cry. When he is outside he will cry until he is let inside. He is described as being playful pushy excitable affectionate shy anxious aloof and independent. He can be fearful around a crowd or people and he is friendly on his terms. He is nervous when he hears loud noises of any kind.
SnowBlack will snap and bite if anyone places their hand by his food or takes his toys or treats away from him. He is not bothered when he is disturbed from his sleep being held or restrained or he is pushed off of the furniture. He is afraid and will struggle if he is given a bath or having his nails trimmed. He will bark and growl if a stranger were to approach his home or a family member. He will only allow himself to be brushed with a hand. He knows the command sit and come.
SnowBlack likes to go for fast paced walks on and off of his leash. He will return when he is called when walking off of his leash. He will use the bathroom on cement or grass and pee pads as well. He likes to play with balls and he will engage in chasing games. He has never been fed dog food and eats people food only and he will have bacon treats. When he is in the house he will follow his owner around and stay in the same room with them. He likes to stay in the bedroom and will sleep on the floor or the bed.
During the Intake process SnowBlack was nervous not allowing himself to be handled. He did allow himself to be photographed but was aloof not interacting with people unless he had to.
SAFER: NEW HOPE ONLY
SnowBlack previously lived with 1 adult and has been socialized with dogs and children. The owner stated when around children he can be respectful, relaxed and tolerant on occasion and at other times will be reactive and will not interact with them. The owner mentioned Snowblack is well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Snowblack as being playful, pushy, excitable, affectionate, shy, and anxious, aloof and independent. It was reported by the owner SnowBlack will snap and bite if anyone places their hand by his food, toys and treats.
At intake Snowblack was nervous and did not allow to be handled. During SAFER Snowblack came into the assessment room nervous and trembling, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Snowblack bared his teeth at the assessor when attempting to put the leash oh him. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time.
