07/31/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
7/31/15 16:33 Basic information: Snow is a roughly 17 yrs. old male AM Pit Bull terrier mix who was brought by the owner. The owner got Snow from a breeder 17 yrs. ago and is surrendering him because of personal problems. The owner stated that Snow has an old muscle injury (unspecified on the type) on his hind right leg format least 3 years ago but was treated by a veterinarian, Snow was last seen by a Vet 2 months ago for a yearly checkup. Socialization: The owner say that Snow is friendly and outgoing with stranger, he has lived with one child age 9 and plays well with him and other adults and children he does not know. Snow has lived with 2 other small Chihuahua mix dogs and was very calm and relaxed around them and other dogs he does not know. Snow has never bitten or scratched anyone. Behavior: Snow is very nervous around loud noises such as fireworks and thunder storms. He does not mind having his food bowl or toys taken away from him while he is eating or playing, he loves taking baths, having his coat brushed and does not mind having his nails trimmed. He is not bothered when a stranger approaches the home or family member. For a new family to know: The owner describes Snow as friendly and affectionate with a medium activity level. Snow loves to play fetch and also plays with rubber balls and chew bones. He mostly lives in doors and sleeps in the bedroom on a quilt. Snow eats pedigree dry dog food and is fed two times a day. He is house trained and rarely has accidents inside the house, when he goes to the bathroom he prefers to use the grass. When left alone in the home Snow is well behaved. Snow knows commands for “sit” and for” take a shower” to get in the tub. For exercise Snow is used to brisk walks to the park three times a day and can lightly pull on the leash.

A volunteer writes: Snow, who, yes, is as white as snow is with us as his owners experienced unexpected hardships. He lived in harmony with a young child and two Chihuahuas and is known to have a great disposition toward strangers and other dogs. He is affectionate, friendly, playful and even likes to be bathed and have his nails trimmed. He would be housetrained and does not suffer from separation anxiety. He did once save his masters from a robber…I wonder if I would be so lucky with my own dog….? Handsome Snow does not look AT ALL the age stated by his owner and I really question the number…17…After a thorough exam, our veterinarians deemed Snow to be only 6 years of age..That really makes more sense. He is in great shape with barely any calluses. His coat is flawless. He is spry, sharp, strolls with bouncy steps, owns nice teeth, eats dry kibbles and eliminates in one stop. We had a very long walk in the park and I believe that I was the only tired one who needed a bench stop. It gave me a chance to have a “conversation” with Snow who very much enjoyed a butt scratch. A big smile came on his face and his tail started to wag. He is very civil with all dogs met, including the little ones. In playgroups, Snow is well mannered and rather explores the premises that he is still to get to know. I was quite impressed by Snow, a middle aged gentleman in top shape who glides on the leash, behaves wonderfully well and appreciates human and canine company. Snow has still many good years to give a new master or family. He is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care center.
