03/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/29/15 12:54 PM Simba was nervous at first and shied away from me and hid under the chair. He warmed up to me and took treats very gently from my hand. He allowed petting and handling. He had a soft wiggly body and tail. Once the ACO came in, he remained friendly, but when the ACO tried to place a leash around him, he began to growl and lunge toward everyone.

04/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Simba pulls a bit on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Simba was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He growled and snapped at the assess-a-hand during the food bowl, toy and rawhide test. Simba shows some guarding issues during the food bowl, toys and rawhide test. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 4. Dog growls and snap. Toy: 4. Dog growls and snap. Rawhide: 4. Dog growls and snap. Dog-dog: With other dogs off-leash, Simba shows some barrier aggression meeting the helper dog through the gate. When he is corrected by the handlers the dogs becomes a very over-aroused.
