04/17/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: As you might guess from her name, pretty Shysha is a wee bit shy at first but she’s still very keen to get out and make new friends, especially if they happen to have a snuffly nose and a wagging tail! Just like everyones favorite clown fish, this sweet girl has a ‘special fin’ (one of her front paws is malformed) and while it is functional she prefers not to use it for walking and gets along just fine on three legs instead, trotting out to the yard to do her business and happily hopping to the fence to say hi to her doggie pals. Shysha enjoys being petted but will cower from any sudden hand movement and she previously lived with a single adult who told us that she ‘doesn’t like children’, most probably because their rough play and loud noise scared her. She walks well on leash, sits to take treats very nicely and is said to know commands for ‘lie down’ and ‘shake paw’ as well. Shysha may be shy but she’s smart, sweet and sensitive too! Already spayed and ready to leave immediately for a patient, adult-only forever home (preferably one with some four-legged playmates), Shysha would love to show you what special really means!
04/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shysha walks with a low body language. She was fearful and attempted to get away from the handler during some items of the assessment. Shysha was shy and nervous during handling, with fearful body language. She became very fearful while playing tag. Shysha was uncomfortable during the paw items flipping her head and moving away with a bit stiff body language we decided to do the flank and Shysha was a bit stiff and he moved away from the assessor. She was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Shysha was surrender to us. According to her last owner she do not get along with children. The owner described her as a hyper dog and the owner stated that she get along with other dogs”. Shysha was fearful during the assessment he needs an adopter who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Shysha is fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We also recommend a home without children Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog head flips while pulling back paw. Flank squeeze 1: 3. Dog head flips while moving hip away. Food: 1. No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: With other dogs off-leash, Shysha was a bit shy at first when she met the other dogs but then she was friendly and playful with them.
