I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/28/2015 from NY 10034, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA.

10/28/15 14:11 BASIC INFO Shorty A1056265 is a 4 year old Chihuahua Mix. He is being surrendered to the shelter because the Owner is the Superintendent of the Building he lives in, and his Boss, the Landlord, does not allow pets in the building. Shorty was a gift from a friend and the Owner has had for 3 years. He does not have any health concerns. SOCIALIZATION Shorty is friendly around strangers. He has never lived with kids, but he is friendly with them. He plays gently with adults. Shorty has never lived with another animal. He has never bitten anyone. BEHAVIOR Shorty does bark too much when he hears noise in the hallway. During storms he is fearful. He is not bothered if you touch his food bowl, water bowl, or toy. He allows you to bathe him. If an unfamiliar approaches the home, he barks. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW He is best described as friendly, affectionate and playful. Shorty’s favorite activities are to play. He loves balls, squeaky toys and especially stuffed toys. He has been kept mostly indoors. He sleeps on a doggy bed. Shorty eats any kind of food, wet or dry and table food. He is house trained, but if you don’t take him out he goes potty in the bathroom floor. When left alone, he is well behaved. For exercise he would be taken on brisk walks on the leash. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Shorty allowed all handling, photos, collaring and placing into kennel. He solicited attention from Admissions Counselor all through out process.

Shorty is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler during the assessment. Shorty becomes extremely frightened during the tag interaction, tail tucked, and trying to exit room. He was uncomfortable with handling; (freezes) expose his front teeth turning and quickly toward the hand. Shorty was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. Shorty was surrender to us. His previous owner described him as friendly, affectionate and playful. Shorty’s favorite activities are to play. He loves balls, squeaky toys and especially stuffed toys. Shorty is friendly around strangers. He has never lived with kids, but he is friendly with them. He plays gently with adults. Shorty has never lived with another animal. He is not bothered if you touch his food bowl, water bowl, or toy”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 3. Dog repeatedly turns quickly away when touched, or repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit, Dog may be crouching ,tail is tucked, mouth closed, body stiff Squeeze 1: 5. Dog freezes Food 1. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest.
