09/04/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/04/15 16:07 Basic Info: Shiloh is a 1 1/2 year old male dog who has no known injuries or medical problems. He was gotten as a gift from a friend and was surrendered to the shelter due to aggression issues when being kept from going outside. Social Life and Personality: According to the owner he has lived with children and is playful with them but if he is restricted too much (i.e. being held, pulled back, etc.) he will become aggressive by barking, growling, and snapping. He has lived with 2 other dogs (both Maltese) but he was kept separated from him because they are aggressive towards him so he has not gotten to have interactions to know his behaviors. He is house trained and kept mostly indoors. He has a medium to high level of energy. Behavior: He has a history of biting people with the most recent happening 09/04/15. When owner took food away from him he would be not bothered but when bones, rawhides, or other objects he will growl but after a few moments he will then relax or try to play tug. When given a bath he is not bothered but will try to escape the tub. He has not had his nails trimmed or brushed so his behaviors are unknown. When unfamiliar people approach the house he will have wiggly body and high pitched bark. New Family Info: He knows the commands sit and stay. He is used to brisk walks on leash and will play with ropes, balls, and squeaky toys. He has not been crate trained before and when home with the owner he will follow them around but when staying in the same room will find his favorite spot. He has not been left home alone so his behaviors are unknown. He was fed dry food and sleeps on the couch. Intake Behavior: During intake would bark and try to escape the admissions office. When hand was extended he would approach and sniff. When scanned for a microchip was negative. When touched had slightly stiff body but then relaxed.

09/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shiloh came to us as an owner surrender with a previous bite history. We do not have enough information of how these bites occurred, but due to this information the behavior department believes that Shiloh should only go to a home with a very experienced owner and no children. Shiloh was a bit nervous during the assessment but allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items without displaying any signs of aggression. In addition, Shiloh showed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. He had relaxed and soft body language when interacting with another dog on leash. The previous owner did state that Shiloh would growl when toys or rawhide items were taken away from him in the home, but would then relax and just play tug with these items. The owner also stated that Shiloh would aggress when children play to roughly with him, and would begin to growl, bark or snap if uncomfortable. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needs coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
