What’s black and white and adorable all over? Puprise! It’s Sheba! This sweet baby is everything a puppy should be; gorgeous and open-hearted, playful and silly, ever ready to snarfle a treat or tug on a toy and super snuggly at all times. Just like a human child, baby dogs do not raise themselves and after Sheba’s former owner was given her as a ‘gift’ they soon realized their busy lifestyle and long work hours left little time to raise a puppy. So off to the Care Center Sheba went, smiling and wagging her tail all the way because that’s just how she rolls. She loves to play with a ball or tug on a plushie but she never guards her things and is always happy to share — Sheba knows the game’s better with two! At just 5 months old she’s still teething but her little chompers are only used on toys, never people, and as long as she’s got plenty of toys to occupy her mind and body this fun-loving little lady can happily entertain herself for hours. She comes when called and is working on perfecting her ‘sit’ (food motivation helps!) and on leash she’s eager but easy to handle, taking care of ‘business’ immediately and often, though she’s not yet fully house trained. We’re told she’s very friendly and exuberant when playing with adults but has never been around children and while she did live with a cat, they did not get along very well. Off leash with other dogs Sheba shows some submissive behaviors with males but when approached by a solicitous female she’s happy to run around and engage in play. Sheba is still in the process of crate training and sleeps ‘inside’ at night but her favorite place to be is always right by her person’s side and when we asked her former owner what they liked best about her it was that ‘she’s very attentive to the family.’ And did I mention she adores baths? Just think of all the fun you’ll have cooling off this summer! Beautiful, loving, funny, smart, dog-friendly, loyal…what more could you pawsibly ask for in a pet? A total doll who’s already spayed and ready to walk out the door immediately, puppies don’t come any cuter or more affectionate than Sheba so make sure you meet her today!
AUGUST 2015
A volunteer updates (as told by Sheba): Hey – I’m back – not my fault – my person had “personal problems”, so here I am again – the good news is that someone else gets a chance to adopt me! I’m bubbly, playful, exuberant, love everyone, I’ll bring my toy into your lap to share, love to snuggle and give kisses, and have lots of energy. I need some basic puppy training as, ooops, my former person forgot to help me with housetraining, and I need lots of my own stuff to chew on. I don’t like crates, but love to take baths. I love to play and have lots of effervescent puppy energy so I hope that an active family will adopt me and help me grow up. I’m going to be a rock star grown up when provided with the structure, and positive reward based training I need. Oh, you need to know I’m allergic to poultry. So, come meet me and let’s promise each other a happily ever after. I’m worth it, you’ll see.
SEPT 2015
A volunteer updates: Sheba was adopted and returned for playing too exuberantly with the four children in the home, sometimes knocking the little ones over (3,5,9 and 12 years old). Yes, she’s an active young puppy, in need of lots of exercise, proper structure and training. She’s a smart girl who knows ‘sit’, ‘give paw’ and ‘roll over’, goes potty outside and inside on wee wee pads, and is just looking for a family to love. And, an added bonus is that if you love company while you shower or bathe, Sheba loves water and will happily join you! What better way to get your kids to jump in the tub
than to have Sheba join them too! Sheba’s leash manners are lovely, she loves to play with whomever wants to play with her, and she’s social and bouncy with other dogs. She’s looking for an active family who will provide lots of exercise and structure to an active, playful and loving young dog. Sheba is looking for the person or family who understands what commitment is – does that describe you?
