03/16/15 12:34 Shadow came in as an owner surrender with limited information. Owner only had Shadow for a very short time but reported that he is good with children and believed he should get plenty of exercise. Upon intake Shadow was quiet but cautious with firm body tone and slow investigation of the room. He was receptive to introduction but was wide eyed when being scanned for microchip (negative) and collared. Shadow made no attempt to bite or growl but seemed to grumble at times and whine. Shadow was very skinny on intake and counselor inquired about Shadows eating habits or possible medical conditions. Client had limited information. Shadow walked very well on leash.

03/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Shadow came in as owner surrender with limited information due to the only owning him for a very short time, but it was reported that Shadow is good with children. Upon intake it was noted that Shadow was quiet but cautious with tense body language while slowly investigating the room. He was receptive to introduction but was wide eyed when being scanned for microchip and collared. During SAFER Shadow exhibited similar behaviors seen during intake. His body was tense and became wide eyed during the handling items. He also began to whine between items and became stiff and uncomfortable with paw handling. Shadow was relaxed during the tag interaction but did become stiff during the food item, and growled when being pushed out of the food bowl, and he was not interested in the toys or rawhide items when being removed. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 3. Dog stands tall and square. His tail perpendicular to spine, mouth closed for the majority of assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Shadow did well with two females in yard, did put an arm over the shoulder of a female but does not engage in other dogs beyond that one gesture.

When off leash with other dogs, Shadow is nervous and does not approach the helper female. 3/19 Update Does well with two females in yard, did put an arm over the shoulder of a female but does not engage in other dogs beyond that one gesture. 3/22 Update Does well with dogs in pen but will wander the pen while whining. Mounts a female, does not respond to correction and is hard to remove from other dog, offers multiple growls but does not redirect.
