08/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Serentiy was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth, growling and lunges at the rope. Once she was removed from her kennel she walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She makes her body look small by hunching over and getting low to the ground. Serentiy holds her tail tucked, sometimes rapidly wagging it back and forth and do not let the assessors handle her. During the look Serentiy was giving a low growl and exposes her front teeth. We stopped the handling part for safety reason and move on with the resources. Serentiy was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. Serentiy was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she lived with children 7 months to 12 years and was relaxed, playful, and tolerant of them. She lived with a pit mix and a cat and was relaxed, playful, and respectful with them. She will play exuberant and play bites but never leaves bruises or marks when she does. When owner took food away from her she is not bothered and will continue to eat until out of reach. She has the same behavior with bones, treats, and toys”. According to the medical technician Serentiy was also intolerant of handling during the medical exam and was showing her teeth”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
