08/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/21/15 12:23 Scorsese A1048687 is a young male Am Staff white & light brown brindle canine who was found on a street in the Bronx two days ago by the finder. The finder is an animal lover who had no choice but to bring him in. The finder stated Scorsese kept trying to mount her altered female dogs, he appeared to not be house broken since he “went” around the home even after being walked where he pulls strongly on the leash at times. He was given dry & some wet Pedigree dog food and he slept on a blanket in the hallway of the apartment. During intake Scorsese allowed all handling. He had a super loose wiggly body and allowed us to scan (-), collar and take his pictures including positioning him during his photo session. He loved giving/getting hugs and gave kisses. Scorsese entered the kennel on his own when told to with ease.
08/26/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Scorsese is looking for YOU to star in his next big feature!! Are you ready for it? He’s a stunning dog with a big beautiful smile, a wagging tail and a gentle demeanor. Likely housetrained he potties as soon as we’re out the door and wagging his tail as he walks, we head to the park. His leash manners are good (he pulls slightly) but settles into a nice rhythm as we walk. A stand up hug, a kiss and a tail wag and he has my heart. His markings are unusual and stunning, he’s been well fed and taken care of. Scorsese sits for a treat, takes it super gently and has a sweet low key energy about him. Off leash in a pen he explores, finds some terrific new scents worth concentrating on, chases a ball and sort of brings it back and allows me to take it right out his mouth. It’s no surprise that Scorsese aced his behavior assessment indicating he’ll be a good fit in just about any home. He’s a gentle, sweet boy who seems to live by what his namesake (Martin) Scorsese said: “And as I’ve gotten older, I’ve had more of a tendency to look for people who live by kindness, tolerance, compassion, a gentler way of looking at things.” Ask to meet our boy today and be prepared to star in his happily ever after.
08/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Scorcese came to our center after a member of the public found him and kept him for two days. It is reported he pulls hard on leash and isn’t fully housebroken. During intake, Scorcese allowed all handling with a very loose wiggly body. He went into kennel easily when asked to. Scorcese allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, tail wagging. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, tail wagging, open mouth panting. Scorcese was distracted and unresponsive during Tag game, body soft, tail wag, panting. He did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts, jumping up on assessor in between attempts. Scorcese calmly allowed the Food dish to be moved, and lifted his head when assess-a-hand was applied to his cheek. He kept a firm grip on Toy, playfully engaging with a loose, wiggly body. Scorcese kept a firm grip on Rawhide, body neutral, tail wagging. He was vocal during playgroup with other dogs. The Behavior Team feels Scorcese would do well in an Average home. He may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners, focus and body awareness in relation to jumping up. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game when coaxed. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor, body soft, tail wag. Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not pull his paw back, jumps up on assessor between attempts. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1.
