A volunteer writes:

Her given name is very silly but by her sweet nature and good manners, chubby little Schnookums somehow gives it all the charm and dignity of a royal title. She may have arrived at the Care Center as a matted pauper but a quick grooming revealed the Princess within…and a missing eye that just makes her even more adorable! Schnookums refuses to walk on a leash and shakes like a leaf when I pick her up but once free in a pen she’s keen to toddle around exploring and takes care of all her ‘business’ very promptly. Her tiny tail wags happily as she confidently greets other dogs at the fence and she seems to like being held on my lap with her cute underbite gently resting on my arm. She may be an older girl but with age comes wisdom and Schnookums aced her behavior assessment with PERFECT scores on everything from handling to resource sharing to doggie interaction. 14 years young, spayed and ready to go home today, Schnookums still has so much love to give and she’s going to make her new family very very happy.

For more information on adopting from the NYC AC&C, or to find a rescue to assist, please read the following: http://information.urgentpodr.org/adoption-info-and-list-of-rescues/

If you are local to the Tri-State, New England, and the general Northeast United States area, and you are SERIOUS about adopting or fostering one of the animals at NYC ACC, please read our MUST READ section for instructions, or email [email protected]

Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process. *We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*
