SARA – A1032124
Gone 4-17-2015 Manhattan
**NEEDS NEW HOPE RESCUE** Sara lived with the same family for 6 years. She lived with adults and children and lived peacefully with 5 other dogs. We don’t know why but Sara did not get along with one dog and the result was tragic and landed Sara in the shelter. It is possible that Sara simply did not like this one dog. We don’t know. We do know that she LOVES people and is friendly and sociable to everyone she meets. Sara’s one past transgression has earned her not only a trip to the shelter but also a NH rating. This means that Sara’s only chance of survival rests on a New Hope Rescue that will take a chance on her. If you would like to foster or adopt this sweet girl, please start contacting rescues at once. Sara’s life depends on it. Tomorrow at noon she will be gone.

04/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sara walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, wagging tail. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Sara was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Sara was not interested in food or toys but took the rawhide away but had soft body language. She approaches the helper dog with her tail well above spine level, body soft, ears forward. Sara was surrender to us. According to her previous owner has lived with 2 adults & two children ages 4 & 5. Sara is very friendly towards humans. The owner stated Sara loves to be around children and has never shown aggressive behavior towards strangers or children. Sara has lived with 5 other dogs. The owner mentioned that about 2 months ago Sara displayed aggressive behavior towards another dog. Sara did not bite or scratch during this first incident, but did growl and lunge towards the dog. Sara had another incident with one of the five dogs displaying some aggressive behavior. Sara did not show any concern during the behavior but because of her owner profile the behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
