12/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sandy came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Sandy was calm with her tail tucked, she did allow all handling. During SAFER Sandy came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Sandy was relaxed, mouths the leash in a playful manner but drops the leash once games ends during the tag interaction and during the resources portion of the assessment Sandy was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Sandy appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, mouths the leash in a playful manner but drops it once the game ends. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Sandy is a bit nervous but does allow the other dog to greet her briefly. She is tolerant of mounting.
