06/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
6/16/15 Samson is showing concerning behavior in his kennel. He hill hard bark and lunge at individuals who pass by. He has snapped at iindividuals who reached towards his kennel. He an high energy adolescent dog who would benefit from manners training, physical and mental stimulation, and behavior modification to help him feel more comfortable when interacting with people. At this time it is recommended that Samson be placed into a foster or adoptive home quickly. 6/02/15 SAFER Samson came into the care center as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake Samson was reported to be very nervous and tense, and growled at the handler, but when approached slowly allowed some handling. During SAFER Samson had fearful body language, and needed a great deal of coaxing to approach the assessor. He allowed the assessor to conduct most handling items without issue, and was a bit tense, but as the handling progressed he became more relaxed. Samson is very hesitant when interacting and we cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Samson is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. The department recommends an experienced adopter without children and it is also recommended that introductions are done slowly and Samson be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace. Look: 3. Dog consistently sniffs the ground, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back. Tag 3: Dog repeatedly spins toward the touch, and repeatedly tries to exit, Dog is crouching ,tail is tucked, mouth closed, body a bit tense. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out.
