10/19/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/19/15 13:43 Samantha was found as a stray. The rescuer kept her in his home for a couple days. Samantha got along with the rescuer’s older dog and was very playful but would growl at the 3 month old puppy. She appears to be house broken and to know the command sit. During the admissions process, Samantha had lots of energy and greeted everyone by jumping up. She took treats gently from the counselor’s hand. She did not show aggressive behaviors.
10/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Samantha is a pint-sized firecracker! She is very friendly and wiggly. She seems housebroken and to know some commands; as soon as I ask her to sit she starts to offer me her paws! She absolutely LOVES toys and knows how to have a good time, even without my help. She does lingering play bows with squeaky toys in her mouth, will roll tennis balls with her nose so she can then pounce on them, and can make a stick look like the most fun thing on the planet. She wants to play tug when I try to take them, but will trade for a treat (she’s very food motivated). When one of her balls rolled under a fence she looked like Winnie the Pooh stuck in his honey pot trying to get it back! She’s very curious and will cock her head when she hears interesting noises in the distance (of course, keeping a toy in her mouth the whole time). She is a little blur, but when she has a moment of calm she is very cuddly. She’ll crawl into my lap and press her head against me like she’s giving me a hug. She is eager to please and with sufficient exercise will make such a great companion – she is so sweet, intelligent and fun to be with. She would love to meet you at Brooklyn ACC!
10/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Samantha came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Samantha was friendly with high energy, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Samantha came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Samantha joins the game, mouths rope with tense body language and slowly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Samantha was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Samantha can be rope reactive at times and slowly de-escalates. Due to some concerns during tag interaction when Samantha mouths the rope with tense body language, the behavior department feels its best she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 3. Dog joins game, mouths rope with tense body language and slowly de-escalates. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Licks hand. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with her tail down, body likely a bit tense. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Samantha greeted the helper dog with a wiggly, loose body. She initiated play and engaged in chase around the yard. Samantha’s energy level kept increasing even when the helper dog signaled for her to take a break by looking away and avoiding her.
10/20/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
