08/25/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Sadah has the most adorable enormous ears, and a very sweet, curious disposition. Every time she sees someone pass by, those ears go up and she looks to see if she might know them. Sadah is energetic but doesn’t pull on the leash– you can tell she’s excited about exploring the world around her and that she wants to share it with you. She loves treats and has a very strong nose, so don’t think she doesn’t know if you’ve got some in your pocket! Sadah would love to have someone who gives back as much love as she does, and who will give her lots of affection… and treats! 🙂
08/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog:A1048466 Sadah came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have information on her past behaviors in a home. Upon intake it was noted that Sadah was calm and relaxed, and allowed all handling by a counselor. During SAFER Sadah displayed high energy when interacting with the assessor, and was a bit difficult to position for the handling items. Once settled she allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was playful during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Sadah was easy to handle when engaged with the food, allowing the assessor to easily push her out of the food bowl. When engaged with the toys and rawhides, Sadah was also easy to handle and maintained a loose body posture, but she did not relinquish the items to the assessor. During the dog-dog interaction Sadah approached the helper dog with a loose posture and appeared interested in interacting. Sadah appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter with an average amount of dog experience that is prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog gently places her open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes rawhide away, keeps a firm hold. Her body is between you and the rawhide, and she is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
