06/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Russo came into the care center as a stray, so we do not have information on her past behaviors in a home. During SAFER Russo was very sociable and attention seeking. She maintained a relaxed body posture for all handling items, and was playful during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Russo did not lift her head from the food bowl when eating, but she allowed the assessor to remove the bowl without issue. She only showed minimal interest in the toys, and when engaged with the rawhide, she held a firm grip and did not relinquish the item, but her body was loose and wiggly. Russo appears to be very sociable and has not shown any concerning behavior while in the care center, so the department feels Russo can be suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food: 3. Dog follows the dish, her tail is low and wagging, ears are forward. Her body is a bit stiff. Dog does not lift her head from the bowl when hand is applied to his cheek. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Russo is polite when greeting and is tolerant with other dogs
