12/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Roxy came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Roxy was playful and attention seeking, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Roxy came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Roxy joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Roxy was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Roxy appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Roxy energetically greeted the helper dog. Once in the pen she solicits play poorly and is somewhat obnoxious towards the other dog, attempting to mount and by being very pushy. She is clearly overly aroused in the presence of another dog.
