10/09/15 14:14 Basic Information: Roxy is a six year old brown spayed pitbull. She was surrendered due to behavioral issues she was displaying at home. She is described as affectionate and independent. Social Life and Personality: Around children she snaps and growls and has a tense body. With other dogs Roxy tends to ignore them and does not engage or interact. Around cats Roxy barks and chases after them, she will also snap and growl. She is very housetrained and rarely has accidents indoors. Roxy has been mostly indoors, and has a medium activity level. Behavior Issues Roxy is not friendly towards people, she growls and snaps at strangers. According to her owner Roxy is very vocal and barks often, she barks when a stranger enters her home, when playing and when left alone. When Roxy’s food or treats are touched she growls and attempts to snap. For a new family to know: Roxy knows the commands sit and down. She is used to brisk leashed walks twice a day. She usually goes to the bathroom on the cement. When home she tends to stay in her spot and rarely seek attention. When off leash she wanders off but comes when she is called. During storms and loud noises she is nervous, she shakes and will hide. She eats dry food, usually Pedigree and sleeps on the floor. Upon intake Roxy was tense and snapped at counselor, she had a hard body during scanning and snapped when attempting to collar her. She was unable to be handled.

Helper dog: A1051223 Roxy previously lived with 1 adult and her son. The owner stated when Roxy is around children she snaps and growls and has a tense body language. The owner mentioned when Roxy is around cats she barks and chases after them, she will also snap and growl. It was reported by the owner Roxy is house trained and has a medium activity level. The owner also stated Roxy is not friendly towards people, she growls and snaps at strangers and if someone touches her food or treats she will growl and attempt to snap at them. At intake it was reported Roxy was tense and snapped at the counselor, no handling was conducted at this time. During SAFER Roxy came into the assessment room nervous and timid, she was not interested with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Roxy freezes and lip curls at the assessor on the Look item. She displayed minimal interest with food and rawhide items, and no interest with toy item during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Roxy approach the helper dog with her tail at spine and body relaxed. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog freezes and lip curls. Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, dog smells, then turn away. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog licks, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
