I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/27/2015 from NY 10025, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB. I came in with Group/Litter #K15-029611.

08/27/15 12:45 Basic Info: Roxy is a 4 year old female dog who has no known injuries or medical problems. She was surrendered to the shelter due to personal issues with the owner. Social Life and Personality: According to owner she has been around children before and was relaxed and affectionate and when they played it was gentle but it was not very often they tried to interact with them. She lived with one other dog (Ruby A1049347) and was relaxed, playful, tolerant, and affectionate. When she played it was exuberant but gentle. She has not been around cats so her behaviors are unknown. She was kept mostly indoors and is not house trained. She has a medium level of energy. Behavior: She has never bitten anyone or any animal before and when owner took food, toys, treats, or other objects away from her she was not bothered. She was not bothered when given a bath or brushed and will bark when unfamiliar people approach the house or family member but it is high pitched and with soft, wiggly body. New Family Info: She knows the command sit and is used to slow walks on leash. She will play with balls and squeaky toys. She is crate trained and does well for 7-9 hours at a time. She will follow owner around the house and when left home alone will chew up house hold items, particularly paper. She is afraid of loud noises such as fireworks or thunder and will hide. She was fed dry food. Intake behavior: During intake Roxy would allow all handling without aggression. Whens canned was negative for a microchip. When owner was in the room she would pace, whine, and retreat from extended hand. After owner left she would approach admission counselor and jump on leg. When touched had soft relaxed body and when given treat would eat gently from hand.

Roxy walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Roxy was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Roxy was not interested in food, toys or rawhide. She was relaxed when approaching a friendly dog, but was not playful. Roxy was surrender to us. According to owner she has been around children before and was relaxed and affectionate and when they played it was gentle but it was not very often they tried to interact with them. She lived with one other dog (Ruby A1049347) and was relaxed, playful, tolerant, and affectionate. When she played it was exuberant but gentle. She has not been around cats so her behaviors are unknown”. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Roxy is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest. Dog – dog 1.
