08/19/15 11:07 Basic information Roxy is an approximately 13 year old APBT. She is being surrendered because her owner is in and out of homeless shelters and cannot keep her with him. She was given to him as a gift from a family member and he’s had her since she was 3 weeks old. Her last vet visit was in 2014 and she has no known health problems. Socialization Roxy is very friendly and outgoing with strangers. She loves children and has spent time around the owners daughter which is 3 years old. She plays gently with his daughter and plays gently with adults. She is not bothered by other dogs or cats but will bark if she feels threatened. She has not bitten anyone or any other animal. Behavior Roxy is walked twice a day and has no accidents in the home. She is not scared of fireworks or storms. She will bark if someone knocks on the door or rings the bell. She loves baths but will run out of the tub sometimes and thinks its playtime. She has not had her nails trimmed. He said that he makes her run and play outside to trim her nails. She is not bothered when he takes her bowl or toys away but he does not know how she will react if someone else does it. For a new family to know The owner describes Roxy as friendly, affectionate, loving, sweet, and playful. He says that she follows him around the house and loves attention. She sleeps on her own bed but always has to be around her owner. She has ropes and toys and loves to play fetch and tug. She was being fed Purina wet and dry food. She is walked on a leash and pulls lightly. When she is off leash, she walks by his side and listens to commands. She knows how to sit, stay, down, and lay down. She loves to go on her walks and gets excited when shes outside. Behavior during intake Roxy was very friendly and wagged her tail when approached. She greeted me with a loose body and open mouth. She took treats and water. She posed for her photos and allowed to be scanned (-)and collared. She did not resist handling. She vocalized as she watched her owner leave the facility.

A volunteer writes: How do you spell love? R-O-X-Y, that’s how. I am head over heels in love with this spunky, fun, loving senior. She’s gorgeous, well taken care of and her bright amber eyes sparkle with warmth, intelligence and fun. She is total sweetness wrapped up in a gorgeous tan coat, and her greying muzzle is the only thing that reflects her age. With us because her owner is homeless, we’re told that Roxy has been with her person since she was 3 weeks old, is friendly and outgoing to strangers, loves children, is housetrained and walked 2x per day, loves a bath (but will sometimes run out thinking it’s time to play), plays gently with all, loves to play fetch and tug, and knows ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘stay’. I honestly did not need to read anything about her to testify as to how amazing she is. She showed off her housetraining skills as soon as we were out the door, her tail wags gently as we walk, she shows off her sit and takes treats gently, and she does a little happy bounce off leash when she knows a treat or toy is coming her way. She likes to sleep in her own bed, but it should be near her person as she loves company and to be with her family. Awesome does not begin to describe this amazing dog, and she deserves to spend the rest of her life snuggled, playing and loved by a new family. It’s no surprise that she did well in her behavior assessment, as she’s pretty perfect in my eyes… How do you spell perfection? R-O-X-Y, that’s how!
