PROFILE:
Basic Information: Rosy is a 5 year old altered female Chihuahua mix. Owner brought Rosy from a pet store. Owner surrenders Rosy due to living situation.
Social Life and Personality: Rosy lived with adults and children. Owner stated Roy is relaxed and playful towards everyone in the household. Rosy lived with another dog name Belle A0778788 and Rosy and Belle are tolerant and respectful towards each other and not bonded. Rosy behavior is unknown towards cats. She is mostly indoors and activity level is low. Owner describes Rosy as shy and mellow.
Behavior Issues: Rosy never bitten or scratched anyone to owner’s knowledge. She doesn’t guard her food, toys, or treats. She isn’t bothered by taking a bath or being brushed. She barks if unfamiliar people approach the house or family member.
For a New Family to Know: Rosy is trained to use the bathroom outdoors and goes for walks twice a day on a leash. She doesn’t play with toys and spend most of her time sleeping or being on owners lap. She knows commands such as come, sit and stay. Rosy has never been crate trained and is well behaved when home alone. Rosy eats dry food twice a day.
Intake Behavior: Upon intake Rosy was calm but nervous. She scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.
SAFER: EXPERIENCED HOME, NO CHILDREN
Rosy previously lived with adults and children. The owner stated Rosy is relaxed and playful towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Rosy has a low activity level and she is well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Rosy as shy and mellow. It was also reported by the owner Rosy is house trained.
At intake Rosy was calm but nervous and she allowed all handling. When trying to take Rosy out of her kennel she hides in the back of the cage and when attempting to pick her up she consistently head flips. During SAFER Rosy came into the assessment room nervous and fearful, she showed no interest with the assessor, she allowed all handling but seem uncomfortable. Rosy was fearful and unresponsive during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Rosy was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Rosy has been showing fearful behavior and avoids interaction in the care center, and shows that she is very uncomfortable; she also doesn’t allow to be picked up. So the behavior department feels it best she can go home with an experience adopter with no children.
Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed.
Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, and lip licks.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back.
Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating.
Toy: 1. No interest.
Rawhide: 1. No interest.
Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Rosy may greet the other dogs briefly but mostly keeps to herself.
PLAYGROUP: When off leash with other dogs, Rosy may greet the other dogs briefly but mostly keeps to herself. 8/28 update: Rosy greets politely and is tolerant of solicitation and is interested but does not engage in play. 8/29 update: Rosy is a bit less comfortable, preferring to interact with the handlers rather than other dogs.
