MEDICAL: scan: sex: male neutered, age: agree with 14y (owner surrender), S/O: Appearance: BARH, Integument: Appropriate hair coat, normal nails, EENT: Epiphora OU, OD – immature cataract; OS – cornea is cloudy with neovascularization, AU clean, No nasal d/c, Oral cavity: MM pink, CRT <2sec, Grade 2/4 dental dz (appears to have had previous dental work), PLN: WNL, H/L: No murmur or arrhythmias ausculted, there are referred upper airway sounds and possible crackles. ABD: Tense , U/G: WNL, M/S: Amb x 4, BCS: 6/9, Neuro: NSF, NOSF. A: Ocular Dz; possible Heart or Airway Dz P: Recommend thoracic radiographs and referral to veterinary ophthamologist
PROGNOSIS: Fair-Good with appropriate care
PROFILE:
Roscoe is an all white male Chihuahua/Maltese mix who was surrendered at ACC today. Roscoe is approximately 14 yrs. old and is neutered. He has issues with his back legs and his right eye is developing a cataract. He will undergo a full physical health exam as soon as possible. He is described as being
Roscoe has been socialized with children and dogs but has not been socialized with cats at all. Whn he is around children and dogs he is relaxed respectful and tolerant. When he is interacting with children and dogs he is gentle and affectionate. He is an indoor dog who is house trained. He is described as being playful confident excitable affectionate independent and friendly. He is afraid of larger dogs but is not bothered by loud noises of any kind. He has a medium level of activity.
Rocoe will growl when anyone places their hands by his food. He does not play with toys or treats at this time. He is not bothered when he is pushd off of furniture disturbed from his sleep or being held back and restrained. He is not bothered when he is given a bath or having his fur brushed but has not had his nails trimmed. He knows the commands sit stay stand and eat. He likes to go for slow walks on and off of his leash and he will return when called when off of his leash. He will use the bathroom on cement or grass. He eats dry food twice a day.
When Roscoe is in the house with his owner he will follow them around and he will also stay in the same room with them. During the Intake process Roscoe was nervous. He would hide by his owner and he struggled when an attempt was made to collar him. He did allow himself to be photographed.
