A volunteer writes:
Roscoe is a good looking young man with a hound-ish face framed by long silky ears and dressed in a perfect coat wrapping a plump body. He looks like a painting. Roscoe is at first a little slow to interact with me. I am the perfect stranger of course. His ears are bothering him and he shakes them frequently. He checks thoroughly the premises. His nose is working hard. After a while, Roscoe comes when I call him, sits as I order and eats treats quite politely from my hand. He indeed lets me shake his paw as related by his former owner. After initial shyness, Roscoe warms up and plays tag with me.He is heel over head. I never thought he would play that way..He looks so serious. On the leash, Roscoe is pretty good and does his business in one stop. He is said to be house trained. He meets properly other dogs during our stroll. Roscoe was relinquished into our care as he nipped his caretaker, a 12 year old ,in two instances, over food. Roscoe is overweight and his portions are being rationed. This is not to his like, of course. He lived with kids and cats, was very boisterous, loves toys and is described as very smart. Roscoe is a gorgeous youngster, friendly, playful and good with other dogs. With cats too, it seems. Although he did not guard anything (food, toy or rawhide) during his behavioral evaluation at the care center, we have to believe that Roscoe needs a new owner who will curb his appetite and teach him that food is good but not the most important thing in life. Gorgeous Roscoe is at the Manhattan Care Center waiting for his new teacher and master.
