11/03/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/03/2015 20:28 Roosevelt allowed me to pet him, collar him and he sat for pictures. He sat and jumped on command and took treats gently from my hand. Client who brought in Rooselvelt stated he fed him and Roosevelt at very fast, when he put the bowl down Roosevelt had a wagging tail, he jumped up, and his body was wiggly.
11/09/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Sporting one of the famous names in history, our Mr. Roosevelt is every inch the diplomat. Friendly, tail wagging, playful and affectionate, Theodore, Franklin, and yes, even Eleanor would be proud to have this handsome fellow carry on the family name. Roosevelt shows off lovely leash manners (he pulls slightly from time to time but no biggie), seems very housetrained, and on our walk wants to meet every person and every dog we pass. He’s beautifully groomed in his orange coat, his weight is perfect for his size, and his gorgeous face exudes intelligence and charm. Irresistible! He greeted all the small dogs we passed in their kennels with an easy tail wag, and in group play with dogs his own size solicits interaction and engages in running play. Roosevelt has a fun, low key energy and a gentle way about him. Rocking his behavior assessment reflects that easy going manner. There are no strangers in his world… only friends. He’s patiently waiting to meet the person or family with whom he’ll start his happily ever after. Let’s not make him wait too long. Another volunteer writes: Can you say Adorable? That is this guy. He looks up at me during his walk with a wagging tail every once in a while. You just want to talk to him because he looks at you with these eyes that speak to you. I bring him into the back to play ball but he is not so interested in the ball, he is more happy to be back there with me and say hi to the other dogs. He’s so smart he figured out how to flip the gate closure with his nose to open the door and go say hi to another dog coming by. I easily get this escapee back into the enclosure. You have to give credit to such a smart boy, so I give him a good cuddle and he sits on my foot tongue hanging out looking up at me so happy. You feel like every scratch on his chest is pure gold to him. This guy is a doll of a pooch.
11/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Roosevelt pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Roosevelt was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He shows minimal interest on the toy he smell it and lick it and then turn away. Roosevelt appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest. Dog may smell or lick toy, then turn away.
11/06/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Roosevelt has greeted both male and female dogs but is unaltered and has only exhibited sexually motivated behaviors while in the care center. The behavior department recommends that Roosevelt have a pre-adoption interaction before going to a home with another dog. When off leash with other dogs Roosevelt is a bit sexually motivated but is more interested in soliciting and engaging in rough running play. 11/8 update: Roosevelt solicits rough play from a female dog, then eventually attempts to mount. He ignores play solicitation from a male dog.
