10/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rome previously lived with 1 adult and has been socialized with children. The owner stated Rome is playful with the children but can be a bit rough because of his size. It was reported by the owner when Rome is around other dogs he’s relaxed and aware, but somewhat exuberant. The owner mentioned Rome has a habit of chewing on pillows and soft things; he also has a very high activity level. During SAFER Rome came into the assessment room calm but a bit fearful, he was social towards the assessor with a slow approach, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Rome followed the handler fearful with his body low during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Rome was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Rome can be shy and fearful at times and also a bit rough during play with children. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Rome be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace, so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children. 09/29/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Rome greets other dogs politely but does not seem interested in play. He may become sexually motivated. Based on his behavior in playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that Rome can go to a home with a female dog and may be placed with another male dog but we recommend that a pre-adoption interaction be required. Rome seems to do well with non-playful dogs so we recommend he be placed with a tolerant, calmer dog. When off leash with other dogs, Rome greets politely and seems interested but does not engage in play. He is tolerant of pushy behavior and may become sexually motivated, continuing to attempt to mount after correction. 9/30 update: Rome greets other dogs politely and may become sexually motivated with some dogs. 10/1 update: Rome greets politely and seems interested but does not engage in play.
