PROFILE:
Basic Information: Rocky is a 10 year’s old unaltered Yorkie/ Shih Tzu mix. She was a gift from a family member 10 years ago. Owner stated Rocky appears to be healthy and has no health issues. Owner surrenders Rocky due to personal problems.
Social Life and Personality: Rocky lived with one female adult and been around a 14 year old teenager. Owner stated Rocky use to be respectful and playful but now he is tolerant and fearful towards visitors that come to the house. Owner stated Rocky is not bothered by cats or dogs he sees on the street. He is mostly indoors and activity level is to a medium. Owner describes Rocky as playful and mellow.
Behavior Issues: Rocky never bitten or scratched anyone owner stated. Owner stated Rocky barks when someone rang the doorbell. He doesn’t resource guard his food, toys, or treats. Rocky isn’t bothered when taking a bath but any chance he gets he wants to come out the tub. He barks when unfamiliar people approach the house or family member.
For a New Family to Know: Rocky is trained to use the bathroom outdoors. He goes for walks twice a day or when someone can. He knows commands such as “go in kitchen and excuse me “. Rocky likes to play with squeaky toys and bottles with pennies in it. Rocky was never crate trained and is well behaved when home alone. Rocky likes to follow owner around the house or stay in the same room. Rocky eats wet and dry food mix. Owner stated Rocky likes to eat salad and eggs.
Intake Behavior: Upon intake Rocky was loose body and panting. He scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Rocky previously lived with one female adult and has been around a 14 year old teenager. The owner stated Rocky use to be respectful and playful but now he is tolerant and fearful towards visitors that come to the house. The owner mentioned Rocky has a medium activity level. The owner describes Rocky as playful and mellow and he is trained to use the bathroom outdoors.
At intake Rocky was loose body and panting but allowed all handling. During SAFER Rocky came into the room with loose body language, he was social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Rocky was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Rocky was easy to handle when engaged with the items. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Rocky be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace. Rocky appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.
Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed.
Food: 1. No interest.
Toy 1: No interest.
Rawhide: 1. No interest.
Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Rocky tolerates interaction but spends most of his time exploring his surroundings.
PLAYGROUP BEHAVIOR: When off leash with other dogs, Rocky tolerates interaction but spends most of his time exploring his surroundings. 8/20 update: Rocky allows greeting but is anxious and will spend his time attempting to exit the yard.
