I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/13/2015 from NY 11207, owner surrender reason stated was PERS PROB.

08/13/15 19:34 Basic Information: Rocky is a 7 year old unaltered male Chihuahua mix. He was a gift from a friend when he was 4 months old. Owner surrenders Rocky due to personal problems. Social Life and Personality: Rocky lived with 3 adults and no children. Owner stated Rocky doesn’t like get along with children. Rocky growls and snaps at children when they are too loud and tries to touch him. Owner stated Rocky doesn’t get along with one male adult and the house and growls and tries to attack anyone who comes to the house. Rocky lived with a pit bull and was respectful and tolerant towards him. His behavior is unknown towards cats. He is kept mostly indoors and activity level is owner. Owner stated Rocky is pushy, confident, mellow and independent. Behavior Issues: Rocky has bitten someone but not in the past 10 days. Owner stated Rocky barks to much at people who comes to the house. Owner stated Rocky behavior progress over the years and doesn’t know why. He allows owner to touch his food bowl but not the pit-bull. He will growl and snap at pit-bull in the house if he comes by his food. He isn’t bothered by taking baths and being brushed. She barks and growls at unfamiliar people approaching the house or family member. For a New Family to Know: Rocky is trained to use the bathroom outdoors and goes outside to the yard 5-6 times a day. He knows commands such as sit, give paw, speak, and jump. He doesn’t play with toys and usually likes to sleep in his blanket all day. He rarely seeks attention and is well behaved when home alone. He is crate trained and likes to sleep in his crate was well. He eats wet, dry and table food twice a day. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Rocky was nervous and timid. He scanned negative for a microchip and allowed all handling.

Helper Dog: A1047735 Rocky previously lived with 3 adults and no children. The owner stated Rocky doesn’t get along with children, he will growl and snap at children when they are too loud and tries to touch him. The owner mentioned Rocky doesn’t get along with one male adult and the house and growls and tries to attack anyone who comes to the house. The Owner describes Rocky as pushy, confident, mellow and independent. It was reported Rocky has previously bitten someone in the past, he barks and growls at unfamiliar people approaching the house or family member. The owner stated he rarely seeks attention and is well behaved when home alone. At intake Rocky was nervous and timid but he allowed all handling. During SAFER Rocky came into the assessment nervous and cautious, he was uncomfortable next to the assessor and was not attention seeking, he allowed all handling items to be conducted with tense body language. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items. Due to his previous bite history and behavioral problems, the behavior department feels its best that Rocky can be place with a new hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: 1.No interest Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.

When off leash with other dogs, Rocky is social and greets other dogs politely. 8/19 update: Rocky is tolerant of interaction but spends most of his time exploring his surroundings.
