08/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: As I strolled down the street with this guy, I tried to imagine the Rocky theme song blaring behind us. Let’s just say, it didn’t really fit! Rocky is a lover, not a fighter! He is big, ADORABLE, a little dopey, and super wiggly. He wags his tail in circles when you approach his cage, tell him how much you like him, or call him over outside for cuddling. Usually he doesn’t even need to be called over and initiates the cuddling himself. If I’m sitting on the bench he’ll hop up next to me and burrow his head between my arm and my body, poking it out on the other side and surprising me with kisses. He’s almost too big to fit on the bench, so sometimes he puts his front paws on the ground, but leaves the top half up so I can scratch his butt! He has good leash manners…until he spots another dog and he becomes a tank! Rocky seems very interested, friendly, and excited at the prospect of meeting other dogs I thought Rocky and I made a pretty awesome duo, until I learned that he was surrendered with his former housemate, a little old man Boston Terrier – there’s no competing with that! His previous owner reports that Rocky is well socialized with dogs AND cats. Rocky loves toys and does adorable head tilts at the sound of a squeaky one. He seems housebroken, knows “sit”, and takes treats like a pro gentleman! I adore Rocky and his company gives me warm fuzzy feelings. I think a better theme song for him would be Harry Nilsson’s “Best Friend”! Could you be the one to sing it to him everyday?? This gentle giant would be so happy to meet you at Brooklyn ACC!
