06/11/2015 17:34 Rocky is a geriatric ran American Pit Bull Terrier mix. He has been with his owner for 8 years. He was surrendered due to his eldrely owner no longer being able to handle and care for Rocky. Rocky is an inside dog that has only lived with adutls and a small breed male dog. He is gentle with the other dog. The owner stated he has a medium activity level and likes to go for daily walks several timesa a day. He needs help learing basic commands and potty training. Rocky wil not guard his food bowl while eating and he will not guard his toys or bones. He has a separate food bowl from the other dog, but they share a water dish. He likes to seep in the bed with his human. At intake, Rocky all owed all handling and was very gentle with the handler.

06/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Rocky was reported to only live with adults as well as a small male dog, and the owner stated he was gentle with the other dog. The owner also mentioned that Rocky needs help learning basic commands and potty training. Rocky was said to have a medium activity level, and the owner states he will not guard his food bowl while eating and he will not guard his toys or bones. At intake Rocky was reported to be to be sociable, and very gentle when interacting with the counselor. During SAFER Rocky maintained a relaxed body posture, but did not solicit attention. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue, and was distracted by objects in the room during the tag interaction. During the resources portion of the assessment Rocky was not interested in the food item, and only showed minimal interest in the toys and rawhides. Rocky appears to be sociable and has not shown any behavioral concerns while in the care center, so the department feels Rocky can be suitable for an “Average” experienced adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (needed coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Food: No interest Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog sniffs, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog sniffs, then turns away.

When off leash with other dogs Rocky is social but sexually motivated. He will respond well to appropriate correction. 6/19 update: Rocky is social with both males and females. He may attempt to mount and is tolerant when a male mounts him.
