07/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Road Dog came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. It was reported Road Dog had a soft body; he approached the counselor and solicited attention and allowed all handling upon intake. During SAFER Road Dog came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Road Dog had soft body language but a bit distracted during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Road Dog was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Road Dog appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft but a bit distracted. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog moves paw away, body soft. Food: 2. Dog follows the dish with his tail down, body soft. Dog lifts head after a bit of pressure from hand to cheek. Toy 1: No interest. Rawhide: 1. Minimal interest in rawhide, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Road Dog greets politely and will sniff but is more interested in the handlers and exploring his surroundings.
07/07/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Off leash in playgroup Road Dog displays avoidant behavior with mates, not interstested in interacting. Does seek human interaction and explores his surroundings. 7/8 update: Road Dog is a bit nervous but does greet other dogs briefly before wandering the yard. 7/9 update: Road Dog greets politely and will sniff but is more interested in the handlers and exploring his surroundings. 7/10 Update: Road Dog continues to be social but is mostly interested in exploring the yard.
